A Walk in the Park

Today my son John, Stella and myself went to Fairmount Park in Philadelphia. We took a nice 2 1/2 hour walk and snapped some great pictures. It was a little cool today, around 60 degrees, but the air felt great! Fairmount Park is 4180 acres, the largest landscaped park in the United States. We went to the Valley Green section of the park, which is near Chestnut Hill, Philadelphia.

Heading to the park.

Beautiful scenery.

Valley Green Inn

Beginning our walk on Forbidden Drive. (the path in the park)

The Valley Green Inn is located on Forbidden Drive. There was a wedding going on today.

The Mrs. & Mr.'s.

Wissahickon Creek

Beautiful waterfall

Neat wall along the path.

Guardhouse on the path.

Stopping for a little break.

Snapped this picture of Chestnut Hill Academy on our way home.

I hope everyone has a super Monday!

XOXO

P.S. I forgot to tell you that while we were on our walk, someone broke into my car and stole my credit cards out of my wallet! Thank God, I went to get an ice cream cone and noticed. I called and got them cancelled. What a pain in the butt!

  2. I am glad you had such a nice time with your son and happy it was not ruined but only inconvenienced at the end of your walk. As I was looking at the remoteness of the scenery, I was thinking I don't think I'd go there without a companion or a much bigger dog! :) There is nothing like the greenery of the east.

  4. What a way to end a lovely day and walk! Too bad about the credit cards. We have that same problem here in Anchorage in the parking lots of parks and trails. It is a major inconvenience.

I enjoyed the scenery along your walk and it was a bonus to happen upon a wedding. They had a good day for it, looks like!!

Stella reminds me of a combo of Ginger and Jeter.... xoxo

  5. Very sorry to hear of the break in and theft, but I love this post! The pictures are a trip down memory lane - we lived in PA long ago, and this is a beautiful area.
